SPJIMR
THE ASSOCIATION FOR Consumer Research

Consumer research for societal impact

The Association for Consumer Research (ACR) conference initiated in 1970 is today one of the most prestigious conferences in the marketing discipline. It brings together leading scholars, researchers, and industry professionals from across the globe to share cutting-edge findings, engage in stimulating discussions, and forge valuable connections. The theme for the 2027 conference is ‘Consumer Research for Societal Impact’. It will focus on key areas relating to ethical consumption, sustainability, equity, wise innovation, and community well-being.

THE ASSOCIATION FOR CONSUMER RESEARCH

This conference seeks to refocus consumer research on enhancing the well-being of bottom-of-the-pyramid consumers. It examines how technological advances, such as the AI revolution, affect historically underserved groups. By understanding their challenges, the conference aims to shape inclusive products, policies, and practices that drive lasting social progress.

Highlights

ACR Mumbai will provide a dynamic platform for academic researchers based in, or interested in, India and the wider Asia region—one of the fastest-growing contributors of consumer research submissions to ACR conferences and journals such as JACR, JCR, and JCP.

Hosted in Mumbai, India’s commercial and cultural capital, the conference will offer opportunities to explore emerging markets through field tours that enable researchers to engage directly with diverse groups of marginalised consumers.

The conference features competitive papers, working papers, special sessions, films, and roundtables. The acceptance rate for competitive papers is approximately 60%.

The ACR Conference Proceedings are listed in the Australian Business Deans Council Journal Quality List as ‘B’-ranked.

Who should attend?
